Pictures you upload (WebP)

Pictures you upload anywhere on #NotesApp (journals, your shop, your site, your profile, chats, moments and adverts) are turned into WebP on your phone or computer before they're sent. WebP files are much smaller than JPEG or PNG for the same look, so your pages load faster and use less of your visitors' data.

Very large photos are made smaller: profile pictures to 1024 pixels on the long side, others to 2560.

Privacy: the hidden camera details in a photo (such as where it was taken, and the phone that took it) are left out.

GIFs (so they keep moving), and pictures already in WebP or AVIF, are sent as they are. Academy logos and signatures stay PNG for certificates.
