Start a community
For your church, NGO, school, club or association. Free up to 200 members; you choose who can join and what non-members see.
What a community has
- General
Every member is in it. An announcement channel: your admins post, members like, comment and share.
See how General works → - Spaces
Public: posts anyone can read, on your profile and in Explore. Members only: posts only your members can see, never in Explore, search, share previews or the Weekly Digest.
See how Spaces works → - Circles
Private group chats your admins set up inside the community — the choir, the youth, ushers, the board — up to 50 people each, with group calls. On Business.
See how Circles works → - Audio rooms
Live talks like Clubhouse: the host and up to 4 speakers on stage, members listening, raising hands and typing in the room's chat. Nothing recorded.
See how Audio rooms works → - Events
Services, meetings, outreaches and programmes, with Going and Interested, reminders, repeating events, a Join live link and paid tickets with QR check-in at the door.
See how Events works → - Members
Open to anyone, by approval or by invite link, with join questions ("Which branch?"). Owner, admins, moderators and members; the member list is for members only and never shows phone numbers.
- Live
Talk live with your members in an audio room on #NotesApp. For video or a bigger audience, an event carries a Join live link (YouTube Live, Zoom, Google Meet or any https link), shown only to that event's audience, until our own live streaming comes as a paid add-on.
- Giving
Switch it on under Admin and name your funds (Tithe, Offering, Building fund). Members give with a Give button and get a receipt; you see the gifts and totals per fund. Charges like a bank transfer (₦10 up to ₦5,000, ₦25 up to ₦50,000, ₦50 above, plus the card charge at cost by card; cheaper from the NotesApp wallet), no commission, and givers can cover them. Paid out to your verified bank account a day later, in one run. Each gift is capped at ₦20,000 until your community is verified. How giving works.
- Paid tickets
Add ticket types (Regular, VIP …) to any of your events, with a price and how many. Buyers pay by card and get a QR code per ticket under My tickets and by email; you check them in at the door by scanning or typing the code. You're paid after the event, less your plan's commission. How tickets work.
On your own site
Have a site on #NotesApp? Link your community on Your site and it opens inside it, at /community, on your own domain too: your members join, post, chat and go live without leaving your site.
Who can start one
Any account can start a community. Until we've verified the organisation behind it, the community shows this notice: “This community hasn't been verified yet — #NotesApp has not confirmed who runs it.” Verification removes it.
What it costs
- Free up to 200 members: the General channel, Spaces, Audio rooms and Events.
- Business (₦25,000/month): as many members as you have, and private Circles.
- Giving: no commission, on every plan. Each gift has a charge like a bank transfer (₦10 up to ₦5,000, ₦25 up to ₦50,000, ₦50 above), plus the card charge at cost when paid by card; givers can choose to cover it.
- Paid event tickets: your plan's usual commission on sessions, taken from each ticket sold (see the rates). Free events stay free.
- Live streaming: a paid add-on, once our own streaming is ready. Join live links to other services are free.
