Naija Exam Prep: teen mode and parents
Students aged 13 to 17 can use Naija Exam Prep. After signing up, tap Yes, I'm under 18, choose the month and year you were born, and give a parent's or guardian's email. The month and year are kept privately, never shown, so teen mode ends on your 18th birthday. Under 13, a parent or guardian sets you up from their own account.
Teen mode: you don't appear in people search or the member directory; only people you follow can message you, add you to a group, or reply to your journals and comments; your moments are seen only by people you follow who follow you back (never public); and the weekly board shows only your nickname, never your name.
Parents and guardians get an email asking them to confirm, with a link. The address is kept only to confirm the account and to contact them about it; it's never shown on the profile. A student can practise, and buy a pack or send a pay link, before the parent confirms. A parent can ask for a refund under the pack's refund rule (within 7 days, no pack question opened) or for the account to be closed, from the contact page.
No ads are shown to students in teen mode, and their data isn't sold or used to market to them; they don't get the weekly digest or offers.
On your 18th birthday you get a one-time screen, "You're 18 now": everything stays as it was until you switch it on (people search, messages from anyone, replies and moments from anyone, your real name on the board, the digest and offers). You agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy yourself, can download your data or delete your day-by-day practice log, and we tell your parent or guardian the account is now yours and remove their email.
